As part of its mission to impact everyday environments to develop world-class players, the U.S. Soccer Boys' Development Academy (DA) has expanded its membership for the 2019-20 season. Valeo FC is proud to have been included as part of the expansion. Previously, Valeo only had teams at the U-12 age group but this year we have expanded to the U-13 and U-14 levels. The DA program began in 2007 and to date only those Academies affiliated with MLS clubs have offered fully-funded programs. Part of Valeo’s mission is to provide opportunities to young, aspiring players regardless of their socioeconomic background.
“We feel strongly that at this level players shouldn’t be in a pay-to-play environment. Players should earn this opportunity and not be excluded from participating because they can’t afford to pay the tuition” said Emelio Williams, Valeo FC Director.
Over the next few months, Valeo will be running several player ID clinics to identify players that are well suited for this unique opportunity. These ID clinics will be open to current club members as well as anyone outside of the club who is interested in playing.
Valeo players participating in the DA league will have a direct pathway to US Youth National scouts and teams. The Academy connects National Team coaches directly with the Academy clubs to develop and identify players and coaches for future Youth National Teams. Each Academy club is evaluated by a member of the U.S. Soccer Scouting Network at least ten (10) times each year. In addition to competing at the highest level domestically, the Valeo DA teams will participate in International competitions as part of their curriculum.
